We all know that during pregnancy it is very natural to gain weight and it is not tough but impossible to stop this weight gain process. However, one can control and keep a check on the process of weight gain that happens over the duration of 9 months.

According to doctors, a pregnant woman should consume no more than 300 calories on a day as more than that would result in gaining too much of weight, which would not be good for the mother or even the baby, so be very selective about the food you have.

The diet of a pregnant woman should comprise of loads of fruits, vegetables and a very little amount of junk food. Not only do we suggest that you include all these type of food in your diet for keeping a check on your weight gain, but also because what you have during the months of pregnancy is somewhat responsible for the food habits that your baby would have, so the more healthier diet you have the better it is for the health of your baby. The diet should comprise of food that is low on fat but rich when it comes to fiber and protein, as the fiber would ensure that the common side-effects of pregnancy i.e. constipation and improper bowel movement are not a problem.

Having a very balanced diet is extremely essential and during pregnancy it has been seen that the calcium level in women tends to drop drastically. In order to keep a steady amount of calcium in our body, low fat cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products should be included in ones diet.

Now that we have dealt with some of the most important diet constituents for a any pregnant woman looking to keep a check on their weight even during pregnancy, a special note is always required for water intake. Every woman should have a minimum of 8 glasses of water on a daily basis as it would ensure that urge of having food in controlled and detoxification of the system happens which is extremely important.
